Always buy essential oils in amber glass bottles. Clear glass or plastic bottles do not contain pure essential oils.

Do not store your oils in direct sunlight.

Are the essential oils all the same price? If they are the same price, then they are definitely not pure essential oils.

 

Essential oils are extremely powerful plant extracts that if not used correctly can cause serious problems. Below is a list of the most common situations when oils should NOT be used.

 The following oils could pose a risk to a developing baby:

- Basil

- Clary Sage

- Hyssop

- Juniper

- Marjoram

- Mugwort

- Myrrh

- Sage

- Fennel

- Peppermint

- Rose

- Rosemary

- Thyme

 These oils should not be used by anyone with high blood pressure:

- Hyssop

- Rosemary

- Sage

- Thyme

 Use these oils with caution if you have sensitive skin:

- Lemon

- Lemongrass

- Lemon Verbena

- Melissa

- Thyme

- Peppermint

- Tea-Tree

- Fennel

 These oils can make your skin more sensitive to the suns rays:

- Angelica

- Bergamot

- Cumin

- Lemon

- Lime

- Orange

- Verbena

 The following oils can trigger an epileptic attack in a person suffering from the epilepsy:

- Fennel

- Hyssop

- Sage

- Rosemary
