Global Difference

COMMITMENT (n.) (kuh-mit-muhnt) the transformation of ideas into action.

The above dictionary entry is the main theme of the "Clinton Global Initiative - WJC Foundation" website.

Tuesday, 9/25,2007, marked the 1st day of a four-day series of meetings and sessions - the 3rd CGI Annual Meeting.

The CGI Mission

CGI's mission statement:

"CGI is a non-partisan catalyst for action bringing together a community of global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges."

The four 'umbrella' challenge areas represented in CGI are:  Education, Energy & Climate Change, Global Health, and Poverty Alleviation.

The far-reaching potential of this initiative is awe-insiring.  The leaders, the organizations, down to the normal, everyday people involved in this effort - quite simply left me word-less.  Then, I just began exploring the CGI website.  In doing so, I discovered the MyCommitment section  (where you can sign up and donate to your chosen cause) and the CGI 2007 Blog

It is worth your while to peruse this website, the Clinton Global Initiative, to your heart's content. The spirit of giving is in all of us.  And once we loosen the purse strings, the feeling is a good one.
